Otto Quast Spanish Lavender is a compact evergreen shrub known for its deep purple flower heads topped with showy butterfly like bracts. Unlike traditional English lavender, this variety thrives better in warmer climates and offers nearly continuous blooms from spring through fall in North Texas.

Care Instructions

  • Light:

    Requires full sun, minimum 6 to 8 hours daily.

  • Water:

    Low water once established. Allow soil to dry between watering.

  • Soil:

    Must have excellent drainage. Prefers sandy or rocky soil. Does not tolerate heavy clay.

  • Pruning:

    Light trim after each major bloom cycle. Cut back by one third in late winter to maintain shape. Do not cut into woody stems.

  • Fertilizer:

    Minimal feeding required. Light compost application in spring is sufficient.
