Striking Evergreen Accent

Color Guard Yucca is a striking evergreen perennial known for its sword shaped leaves featuring bright golden yellow centers edged in deep green. In summer, it sends up tall flower spikes with creamy white bell shaped blooms. This architectural plant provides bold structure and year round color in North Texas landscapes while requiring very little water once established.

Best Area to Plant

Location: Accent plant in front yard beds, xeriscape gardens, rock gardens, modern landscapes, or massed for dramatic effect.

Placement: Thrives in full sun. In North Texas, it performs exceptionally well in hot, dry areas and reflected heat zones. Ideal for raised beds or areas with excellent drainage. Frequently used as a focal point due to its bold texture

Care Instructions

  • Light:

    Requires full sun for best color and structure.

  • Water:

    Very low water once established. Water deeply but infrequently. Avoid overwatering, especially in clay soil.

  • Soil:

    Must have well drained soil. Performs best in sandy, rocky, or amended clay soil. Does not tolerate standing water.

  • Pruning:

    Remove spent flower stalks after blooming. Trim away damaged or older lower leaves as needed. Minimal maintenance required.

  • Fertilizer

    Rarely needed. Light compost application in spring is sufficient
