Kaleidoscope Abelia

Abelia x grandiflora 'Kaleidoscope')

Growth Potential

Height: 2–3 feet.

Width: 3–4 feet.

The Ever-Changing Beauty

A stunning multi-colored shrub that changes with the seasons. The foliage emerges bright lime-green with yellow centers in spring, turns golden in summer, and shifts to fiery orange and red in the fall. It produces small, fragrant white flowers that attract butterflies.

Best Area to Plant

Location:

Mass plantings for a pop of color, or as a vibrant border in front of darker evergreen shrubs like Boxwoods or Yews.

Placement:

Best in full sun to part shade. The more sun it gets, the more vibrant the foliage color will be. It works well in sloped areas or raised beds

Care Instructions

  • Light:

At least 6 hours of sun for best color.

  • Water:

Moderate. It prefers well-drained soil and consistent moisture during its first year.

  • Maintenance:

Prune lightly in late winter to maintain its shape and encourage fresh, colorful new growth.
